The Bar Human Rights Committee of England and Wales provided a submission to the Inter American Court of Human Rights concerning the advisory proceedings on the question of democracy in the Inter American human rights system. The Advisory Proceedings were at the request of the state of Guatemala and endeavoured to answer several questions. BHRC’s submission sought to highlight jurisprudence from the European Court of Human Rights to provide insight for the advisory proceedings with a focus on the right to protest and the right to political parties.
