The Bar Human Rights Committee of England and Wales (“BHRC”) is now accepting nominations for its
Chair and Executive Committee until 11pm on Friday 28th November 2025.
All current members of BHRC are entitled to stand for membership of the Executive Committee and/or
to vote. This election cycle is for a two year term, running from 1st January 2026 until 31st December
2027.
The elected Executive Committee is comprised of up to sixteen people, including the Chair and Office
Holders. The Office Holders are titles for: Chair, Vice-Chairs (there are two positions), and Treasurer. Other Office Holders include: Membership Secretary and Secretary.
We welcome nominations from BHRC members who have not served previously on the Executive
Committee, particularly those with experience in international human rights law across different
practice areas and regions.
For further information on both the nature and workload commitment, please contact our Project
Officers at coordination@barhumanrights.org.uk (mailto:coordination@barhumanrights.org.uk), or any
of our current Executive Committee members.
All nominations must be seconded by another member of BHRC. Please submit your nomination using
the below form.
Written notice of the list of candidates and accompanying statements will be sent out to all members
on Monday 1 December 2025. Voting will close on Sunday 14 December at 11pm.
Please note: Although the position of Chair is open to all members of BHRC, the current Executive
Committee believe the position is best suited for a senior barrister or King’s Counsel.
Nomination form can be accessed here. You must be an active member of BHRC to nominate and vote in this election.
