BHRC submits Amicus Curiae brief to the Tribunal of Santander, Colombia in the case of David Ravelo Crespo

On 4^th September 2013, BHRC filed an Amicus Curiae brief to the Tribunal Superior de Santander, Cantabria – Colombia, in the case of David Ravelo Crespo, Colombian human rights defender in prison since 2010.

Kirsty Brimelow QC, Chair of the BHRC and Counsel to the Amicus Curiae, said: “The issues impact not only upon David Ravelo Crespo but upon both the working of due process in Colombia and its adherence to international law. BHRC is confident that the calibre of Colombian magistrates is such that careful consideration will be given to the Amicus Curiae. Its purpose is to assist the proper administration of justice.”
